The children of Cambodia are the nation’s future. That is why care and accompaniment of children toward growing in body and spirit is one of the priorities of the Catholic Church in Siem Reap.
One particular aspect that ensures children’s physical well-being is basic nutrition. The Church, in as much as resources permit, has maximized the learning centers in the villages to also become a venue for the Rice Soup Program.
The program aims to augment a meal in one of the days that they are at the learning center. Once a week, teachers and volunteers prepare and serve rice soup to the children, usually after class. As part of the sustenance scheme, the church eventually enrolled the help of the children’s parents in cooking and serving the rice soup.
